Ideal for
Students who require English for higher education
Abitur, Matura, Cambridge and Others
The course is designed for students who wish to continue higher education studies in countries where official examinations in English are a key pre-requisite for university entry. Preparing for these exams in a second language can be a challenging task, which is why it’s essential to receive specific training. This course can be taken as part of our International Teen Camps.
Skill-based Sessions
All official examinations assess reading, listening, speaking and language skills covering a range of topics. Whereas the syllabus might vary from one state/country to another, the exam skills required are standardised. In order to obtain English qualification students must demonstrate well-structured knowledge of the subject area, familiarity with the working methods of the subject and an in-depth understanding and analysis of the given texts.
Additionally, the tasks must reflect independent thought, critical thinking and the ability to learn autonomously. In the exams, candidates are expected to demonstrate:
- Secure and well-structured knowledge;
- Familiarity with the working methods of the subject;
- Understanding and judgement;
- Independent thinking;
- A sense of context with regards to the subject and presentation skills.
Our exam course exposes candidates to English as the medium of instruction, which enables them to develop critical thinking skills and familiarity with common academic subjects. Lessons will focus on equipping students with the range of academic skills by developing their receptive and productive skills in English. After following their standard school curriculum in their formal education, exam preparation students are able to fine-tune their English skills and develop fluency and accuracy on the exam preparation course in Malta.
Course Structure
The course is divided into 2 levels: Intermediate/Upper-Intermediate (CEFR B1/B1+ to B2) and Advanced (B2+ to C1/ C1+). Students are allocated to the relevant CEFR level based on the results of their entry test, which is normally completed online prior to arrival. By the end of the course candidates will be better equipped with the range of skills required to pass the exam in their state. Authentic exam material is used throughout the exam preparation course in Malta.
